Within the fog of 2020 and all of its ugly beasts, writing prevails! At GHS, Writing Club is back in swing every Tuesday at 3 in room 217. This year, we've created a Google Classroom pages to hold all of our precious treasures (well, really it's just information about writing contests and useful resources for writing well). If you would like to get in on the fun, email any of these addresses:
[email protected] [email protected] [email protected] We'll add you right away! Also, for those hesitant to rejoin their classmates in person, we've created a Google Meet link (which we posted on classroom). We'd love for all virtual learners to join us in our writing adventures. We hope to see you on Tuesdays in room 217. For now, keep being creative! During this time in quarantine, it can feel as though one day as been a week and one month has been three. So, the separation we feel from our loved ones seems even bigger. That's why, us here at the GHS Writing Club want you to write a letter to your loved ones and friends who may need a little extra boost of joy during these hard times.
If you've already sent a letter, send another! Or, better yet, write a letter thanking healthcare workers to your local retirement home or hospital. We even have a way that you can become a pen pal with a police officer! If you write a letter, post about it using the hashtag #LettersforGHS Let's spread positivity and kindness in our community! For more information, visit our Instagram page @writersofghs Hey, everyone!
Hope you are all doing well! So because we are stuck at home for the rest of the year, we wanted to make sure you guys still got the chance to participate in writing competitions, so here is ours for this month. Because April is National Poetry month, the competition is to write a poem, and you can even submit a video performance of your poem! All of the details are in this pdf aprilquarantinecontestinfo.pdf Submissions are due Friday, May 1st, so have fun and get writing everyone! Hello writers!
Hope all is well during your quarantines! Sorry for not updating the website in a while, but we are going to start doing a much better job of that, and we will also be updating our Instagram, (@writersofghs) more often as well, so check us out there. I know it can seem super boring and sad staying inside for this long while we are out of school and quarantined at home, but it provides an excellent opportunity for writing! So stay tuned for some more prompts and other fun ideas to continue writing during this time. I know I (Hannah) have done a lot more writing than I used to recently, and am finally working on pieces I've only just theorized, so this is a great time to start some projects that you might've been putting off, too! Stay tuned for some cool things you guys, and we hope to see you all soon! P.S. If you ever write anything that you want published here, email us! Or even if you just want us to read and/or edit anything too. This writing site holds an abundance of writing resources ranging from prompts of any genre to contests that are free to enter (some require a fee). You can create an account for free, if you’d like to see more about the site, but it is not required to access its materials.
This writing site is a platform where you can share stories with thousands of people across the globe. Monthly, there are writing contests with a different topic for each. If you go on the site and click the button “How it Works”, there will be a page that tells you all about the site. Have fun writers! |
